Since Canada is on the border of the US, would it have naturally have more in common with the US culturally, or conversely since its a member of the nations of Commonwealth, would it have more in common with the other commonwealth countries like Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom? This obviously only applies to English speaking Canadians, what are you views?
They mostly watch the same TV, drive the same big cars, play hockey, have many of the same mannerisms, eat mostly the same food as Americans, dress the same and unless you're North American, you probably can't tell the accents apart. OTH, they spend a lot of energy on trying not be like Americans and still recognize the British crown.
Canadian, British, Australian, Irish, New Zealanders, we ALL have rather a lot in common, all Anglo countries do, its the English language that ties us together, we all share popular culture because of it.

That's true for the most part. It's far too nuanced to do it country by country. Somebody from the American plains states will have more in common with people in Manitoba and Saskatchewan than they will with people from New York City.

To my perception there are few things telling each anglo culture apart.
The only thing which I note that plays a distinct role in each culture is the sport. Each one developed its own style of football. Englishmen developed the FIFA football (or soccer, like Americans say), Americans and Canadians have Gridiron Football, and Australians have the Aussie Football. Also, cricket and rugby are more popular in UK, NZ and Australia while baseball and basketball are more popular in USA/Canada.
This is recurring thread that seems to get restarted every couple of months. We just finished one it seems.
Anyway...
For everyday culture it's much, much closer to the U.S.
In terms of ethos and mindset it's more a mix and there are many commonalities of views between (Anglo-)Canadians and people in the UK-Oz-NZ that differ slightly from American attitudes.
