The 1st one is just stupidity imo but the 2nd i kinda get, i mean its closer to Southeast Asia than Northeast Asia not culturally but geographically and climate-wise just like Hong Kong and South China (Guangdong, Yunnan, Fujian etc.) because the Eastern half of Siberia is Northeast Asia.
Well but HK and Southern China aren't SE Asia either. It could get cold in winter here and over there.
SE Asia is strictly the member states of ASEAN and nothing more.
Oh yeah, forgot about the misconception of Australia being a hot, desert island with no cold weather. Little do people know that we have snowy mountains where people ski, tropical rainforests and a substantial region with temperateness and greenery (southeast) that can be confused for the meadows in western Europe.
What do you call cold? Average of 20 degrees celsius in the day and 14 in the night in winter is not cold.
Sometimes it could get down to below 10 and that's really cold, especially in the north, it rains a lot in winter, the humidity makes it feel even colder.
Besides this January it got down to 3 and everyone was freaking out, and it snows in the mountains in winter all the time.
The majority of the males uses "mate" right? So there is some truth to it.
"G'day" is also not that uncommon an informal greeting in Australia. Even if it's not what everyone says all the time.
