Italy and France are often seen as having the best quality of fruits and vegetables across Europe. On the other hand, there's a lot of evidence that Switzerland's farming practices has at least awarded it the best quality animal products (especially dairy). Because quality is based in farming practice to a large degree - I think we should bring animal products into the discussion too!
The best strawberries I've eaten came from Nova Scotia.
The best mangoes, bananas and pineapples came from Costa Rica.
The best grapes came from Italy.
The best cruciferous vegetables came from the UK.
The best blueberries from New Jersey.
Washington State in the US probably has some of the best Apples and Cherries in the world, we have very good volcanic soils in the eastern part of the state with a lot of summer sunshine and tons of cheep water from the massive Columbia river. WA is also known for it's Walla Walla Sweet Onions and Cranberries. Also WA apparently has good dairy cows, other than that our produce is probably pretty much average.
Latin American countries with tropical regions usually have amazing fruit. Fresh fruit is everywhere and with great flavor.
