New Zealand, at least, was serious enough about it that they held votes on whether to keep their flag or replace it. "Keep" won.

Yes

Is the lack of flag change in Australia and New Zealand unlike Canada represent a sign of immaturity in our nations?

Come on, this is C-D. Most people here are barely literate, so don't expect anyone to actually knowing how to use the search function. Even FOX News is too complicated for some, so they watch youtube videos instead.

Is there a special mandate or incentive to change flags on some schedule?

Regime changes or minutia like America's 'stars = number of states' are obvious reasons for a change, but has the southern cross changed or have Aus and NZ left the commonwealth?

We don't want to. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Our flag displays our geography and our history. Why should we change it?

There is more support for the republic in Australia than changing the flag. Changing the flag is not a big issue in Australia.

For New Zealand there was a vote on it not long ago on changing the flag and most of the votes support retaining the current flag.

Rumour is that Canada is looking at changing it's flag back to a Union Jack design anyway -I think the new design features a moose, and a Union Jack, in the top left corner
