Op's observation that details such as doors and locks are different in America and Europe is very true. I would say that I am also a person who loves to pay attention to details. Obviously, they also differ in different European countries.
However, I think the locks are more uniform because they are small and therefore easy to transport from one country to another.

I googled the word "locks" in my language, here are the google images:
