I am a freelance journalist currently in NYC. Have 10 years experience as a freelancer and 7 as a teacher/professor (EFL abroad and writing/lit./journalism at the college level in the US). I want to relocate abroad and think finding a teaching job would be the best bet (as opposed to finding a ft journ. job). I would like to hear from people who have successfully combined teaching and journalism abroad. Thanks so much!
Japan is always hiring EFL teachers, and have contracts, travel packages, etc as part of the deal. For more interesting subject matter, China would be an interesting place to be (although don't know anything about teaching there. I';ve read lots from former Peace Corps volunteers, but believe that there's a ban against publishing outside of blogs during a PC stint.)
