I've not really heard anyone dropping the "g" on Wyoming--but I do know a lot of people will add a "g" to the Wyoming town of Rawlins (to Rawlings.)

Never heard it without the "g"--either when I lived there or in any other Rocky Mountain state. Of course, to Wyomingites, the University of Wyoming will always be "U-dub," but that is another story.
