So I went on my first tree-cutting trip into the Big Horn National Forest this weekend and had a great time with the family. Lunch at the Pines Lodge was a great way to finish the trip off; if you get the chance stop there for a burger on the way home. But being that it was my first time into the forest, I wasn't too sure where the good trees were...and I figured most folks didn't want to cough up where they get their trees from. We ended up finding a good 9-foot lodgepole pine. I was hoping to find a fir or a spruce, but the kiddos were getting restless and I settled for the best at that time. Is anyone willing to share where some of the really good trees can be found? I heard fir trees are better found at higher altitude.

Merry Christmas!
