Interesting, and really good photo shot. Probably will never see another shot like that again.
A onetime phenomenon!

Ihat is exactly the way the way the. weather works over the Big Horns into the Sheridan area. I have been able to see the weather patterns but nothing as predominant and defined as those beautiful pictures.

Weather comes through the Big Horn Basin and hits the Big Horn Mountains and up it goes almost forming a dome over Bear Lodge and then comes down just East of Sheridan. It will be calm and light snow in Dayton. Sheridan will have 10 mph winds and. have moderate snow. 15 miles East of Sheridan will have heavy snow and 30+ mph winds. Final outcome will be 1-2 inches of. snow in Dayton, Sheridan will get 4-5 inches, and 15 miles East they'll get nailed with 18-20 inches.

Being North of the weather system, I can often see that pattern, but certainly not as defined as the pictures.

The reason I know what they get for snow 15 miles East is because my daughter and her family live out there. Her driveway is 3/4 mile long and she gets snowed in, so she calls and I head out with my plow. I start at the highway and S-i-L starts at the house. Some of the drifts get up to 5-6 ft deep and if we don't start right away they'll get out of control.

I've long appreciated cloud formations, but this one is spectacular! Thanks for posting it.

I wish i had seen that cloud formation in person. As described in the story, and shown in the photo, would have been something to see.
