I understand that Rock Springs is largely a mining town, and that the male-to-female ratio is nearly 1:1, and that the mean age is 32 or so, and that roughly 50% of the people there are married. My question is, for a non-religious guy in his early 30's who is advancing on a career path, who is physically fit and educated, optimistic, and who is not going to live in Rock Springs forever, would y'all say he'd have a decent shot at finding a compatible woman in the Rock Springs/Green River area, or would he more than likely have to branch out from those towns?

I can't help with your other questions, but this stood out to me. I've known several young marriages that broke up because one spouse had to move out of the area for work, and the other spouse (who was from the local area) didn't want to leave family and life-long friends. They'd move to the new area, be very unhappy, and after a few months go back and file for divorce.

If your work will require you to keep moving, you may want to look for someone who isn't from the local area, and doesn't express unhappiness about being away from where they grew up.

I've never lived in or near Rock Springs, this is just general advice, wherever you end up going.

Best of luck to you

I don't think you'll find a dating "scene" anywhere in Wyoming. For men in our age group (early 30's) it's largely going to come down to your ability to navigate and engage the social scene vigorously, along with a great deal of luck quite frankly.

Wyoming by & large just is'nt a region where one can expect to find or stumble-into a 'scene' of any kind whatsoever, unless it's a town where quite a bit of outside-influence comes & goes on a transitory basis...

...off the top of my head I would immediately think of Laramie, followed closely behind by Cheyenne...and that's about it.

Wyomingites just are'nt the type to really CARE about 'keeping-up' with the outside world. Those who move here (to stay) have done so with 60/40 full-intentions of getting AWAY from all of that 'fast-paced/busy-lifestyle' stuff...because it's simply not a sustainable way to approach life, for any foreseeable length of time here.

Laramie. GO FORTH BOLDLY. If she's there, you'll find her. If not...you've got all the time in the world. Why 'rush' things ?

I appreciate the feedback. I am happy to say that I've found some prospects online, which has given me a snapshot of the singles in the area. Really, as long as I'm dating in some capacity, I'll be fine. It's some biological thing that forces me out in whatever "scene" there may be to prospect for gold, so to speak. Perhaps eventually I'll stop caring. For now, I'm on the prowl. Haha.

Happy 4th of July!

I'm going to catch a lot of flack for this but I'm going to be brutally honest. The dating scene in Rock Springs and all of Wyoming SUCKS. I've lived in two other states and Wyoming was by far the worst. I'd be very suspicious of the 1:1 ratio, it seemed there were many more men than women. And with the few women in the state the quality I found was awful. I did the eHarmony, Match, Plentyoffish, and OkCupid (since I hate trawling the bars) thing and what I found were almost always women who were either unemployed or working for minimum wage, had several kids (often with different men), and those that were divorced had no marketable skills and were "going back to school" which I always seemed to find suspicious. The few with decent jobs and ambition were usually living with their parents. Even when people tried to set me up this was the best they came up with. It seems that in Wyoming you marry right out of high school or right out of college or you try your luck importing someone from out of state.

Well, they do say it took place in Prague, a long, long way from Rock Springs.
