Hey all! My husband myself and my daughter currently live in Colorado Springs but we are from western Montana. We would like to move somewhere a little bit more small town as that’s what we are used to. The front range is very depressing for us. I’m wondering if we should look into Cheyenne? I stay at home with our daughter but my husband travels all around the mountain states for work so it doesn’t really matter where we live as long as we live within 1 to 2 hours of Denver. We lean more conservative, we like the outdoors and we know we would have to drive to get to the mountains but that’s OK. We make a decent income but there’s just no way we can afford to buy a house in Colorado.

Cheyenne is waaaay too big for us but I'd take it any day over col springs. We have family close to col springs and you should have seen the springs 28 yrs ago. The difference would blow your mind. 28 yrs ago our family there didn't live in a good area and I remember drive by shootings often, even back then!

Cheyenne is 63k and growing. Look into Torrington or Wheatland...they are less than 10k and still within a few hours of Denver

Cheyenne seems nice enough. I tried to get a job there and was asked by three different people before the interview even started if I was from Cheyenne. I didn't get hired. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. In my experience it seems like people in Wyoming prefer locals, something to be aware of. If you get a job you'll be fine being conservative and there are outdoor activities around.

For close to Denver and yet located in WY, I prefer Pine Bluffs or Laramie to Cheyenne.

Torrington is also a good choice.

If you need Mtns (more like MT)..., Saragota or Encampment, WY

Further from Denver, but closer to Rapid (if you need a commercial airport)
Newcastle or Sundance, WY
