Texaco leaving the south? (Rock Hill, North: credit card, to buy, stores)

Any reason why Marathon is now taking over every Texaco station? i know several years ago up north, almost every Texaco became a Shell, but i havent seen anything where Marathon bought out Texaco stations.

Texaco, which is owned by Chevron Corporation, recently decided to pull out of 12 states, including North Carolina.

They are also forgetting SC, as the one on Cherry Road one is now a Marathon.

I believe thats just the convenience store branding. I believe it should be a Marathon, or a no-name brand gas.

I read that they weren't profitable in the east so they are focusing on areas where they can make money. Their bread and butter is in central US.

Never run your card as debit at a gas station, always choose credit. This should stop the large hold.

Texaco holds $120, even on a credit card transaction. The only way to get around it with them is to go in and pay at the register for a pre-set amount. This is a total pain. However, since I don't know who I can trust anymore, I'm just going in and paying at the counter with everyone now.
