Anyone know the history of the land where The Herald is located?
I have a cut amethyst stone and the tag says 132 W. Main. That is now the Herald Building.
Anyone recall a jewelry store at that address or a gem specialist?

Thanks.

I have no idea but Goggle has the Rock Hill Herald archives from January 1880 until present if you want to dig around for the info.

Google News Archive Search

Or you could call the Historic Rock Hill group 329-1029.

Projects
I'll give them a call, as well as the Chamber of Commerce. They may have old listings of area businesses.
I did not see a way to search the "archives" site because I don't have a date.

How do you know that the stone/jewelry store is/was from Rock Hill? Could there not be another 132 W. Main somewhere?

Oh how I love a good mystery.

The person lived in Rock Hill and it says Rock Hill, S.C. 29730.
I'm told to call the White House on East White St.

Unfortunately back in the old days we didn't have zip codes! I think the 5 numbers started back in the 60's. The Patrick family owned the Evening Herald back then and it was in the same location as it is now.

The mystery remains forever unsolved.
No business has had the address of 132 W. Main in the last 60 years except the Herald.
There was a jeweler back in 1905 at 132 E. Main.
1905 is too far back.

There is a history room at the library you can go if you have time to sift through microfilm, etc.
