Relocation to Birmingham

Hi, I will be visiting Birmingham and probably relocating on job move for my husband. I really don't know a lot about Birmingham and the surrounding cities. My biggest concern is diversity (race, cultural, etc.) I live in a very diverse area now it's probably 85% white but there is diversity elsewhere. I would like to move to the suburbs but would like some diversity probably about 20-30 minutes from downtown. Can anyone give me some ideas
