Hey,
My name is Cathrin, 16 years old and I'm a girl from Germany. I'm currently in Michingan. I'm here for 5 weeks now with an german organisation and i"m not content at all. The school is too small (250 students from K-12) and has nothing to offer for the students. No extracurricular activities , nothing. I really love playing soccer so I was really down when I saw that here's nothing. :(
Even the "town" is too small and boring. My hostfamily is ok, but we don't have the same interests.
So I'm searching for a nice hostfamily in the USA , who would host me for this Schoolyear. I don't have any preferences where the hostfamily is gonna be ( state etc.) al long as the school is bigger than 2000 students and the town also a little bit bigger.
Greetings

Why isn't the organization you're with helping you? If soccer is the only problem...then you have no problem. High school soccer only lasts a short time and typically is of poor quality. Find a local club team and you can play much more and at a higher level. You'll get better coaching, too.
Five weeks isn't very long and I think you may have had some expectations of how it would be there. But now things aren't like you wanted and you're bored. Try fitting in with the host family and I'm sure they are interested in your lifestyle as well. Or did you come here with a different agenda? If you came over to party and have fun then you've missed the point of the exchange program. I've seen this all too often.Posted 10-17-2008 at 10:41 AM by On-da-Beach
