Public Schools

Aren't any other parents concerned about where our public school system is headed? Teachers belong to a union, where very few are held accountable. They spend 8 hours with our children a day and what do they teach? There are some good teachers, but not many! I finally turned to online schooling. One on one education for my children and lessons are complete in half of a day. But what really makes me mad, is that all of the property taxes I pay still fund the public school district where I live.
The school I am paying for now is coming out of my pocket again. I am just happy to know that my children are learning something at the end of the day! That is enough right now to keep me happy.
They didn't need all these new schools that were built in the 90s, what they needed is some organization and a cutback of teachers.

You may be one of the few involved parents. Unfortunately, a teacher's worst roadblock is apathetic parents.
Teachers can teach till the cows come home however, if parents don't get involved in their child's education (i.e. homework, projects, etc.)
Apathetic, uninterested, "busy" parents send their children into the educational system with the expectation that teachers will parent their children - education is secondary when you have to teach manners, respect, accountability, first.Posted 11-22-2008 at 07:22 AM by maidenmaine
