Equality is a myth (In response to Kings Holiday)

I'm late with this...but none the less I feel I need to get it out...so bare with me please...

1.Equality is a myth...
And goes against the very nature of man...
Equality is also a myth in nature...

No one ever really strives to be 'equal' to the person next to them...we instead 'instinctivly' strive to
a. out do
b. win
c. conquer
d. destroy
e. devistate
f. control

And I could go on...
Nations don't rise and fall out of a sense of 'equallity' man has with each other.
Rather they rise and fall do to the warring nature of man, and his constant need (induvisually or collectively) to proove he's not equal to no one.

The only thing that has quenched that constant burning desire within us all to be 'better than'....is laws....governming laws....that dictate how we shall treat others in a functioning society.

None the less, man never strives to be 'equal' with anyone...no where is this better displayed than in sports...

No two teams want to be 'equal' to each other...The New York Jets, did not set out to be equal to the New England Patriots, rather the Jets set out to proove they were 'better than' the Patriots, as a team.

The NFL, simply provides a 'fair' playing field in which to demonstrate this.
It's called competition...

chapter two

As a minority, I sometimes get sick of hearing people 'burden' society with sappy Dr King speeches or phrases, that are really no longer relavant...

This whole 'judge a man by the content of his heart and not the color of his skin'...

1. Ok first of all, not even black people do that...black folks are just as judgemental against other blacks (for being or looking black) as they claim whites are...period.

2. Second, what if someone by-passes your skin color, looks into your heart, and still doesn't like what they see?
Then what?

What if one chooses to indulge in bad reckless behavior that hurts self and others?

That right there is the 'content of the heart' being displayed for all to see and 'rate' an induvisual by.

And as such I think more AA's in America should focus more on 'content of heart' within self...
Before always burdening society to 'love us' and 'accept us', just based on skin color....

3. No ones going to be impressed with you or 'love' you, or roll over for you, just because of skin color. If you want that respect you have to earn it, demonstrate what you got.

4. Don't confuse human nature with Gods nature...
Man is not God...
God requires nothing when you come to the cross...
Man requires everything...(including the kitchen sink)

In closeing...

Equality is a myth...
That very concept goes against the nature of man.

We're all in competition with one another for jobs, housing, fastest car, best suitable mate, grades at school, sporting competitions, album sales, oil rights ect ect.

Man strives to be better and more effeciant than his neighbor, not equal to.
Women strive to dress better than their co-workers, not equal to.

So why would that concept suddenly change when it comes to 'ethnicity'?

No ethnic group or culture, is ever going to just lay down and surrender their own interest so that another race or culture can pass them up.

What they can do though, is provide a fair enviornment in which people who choose to, can succeed.

If that enviornment is provided, and people still choose not to succeed or make poor reckless decisions...than skin color, or others reaction to it, is no longer a factor in where they, we, end up...
Rather indeed it becomes the other half of the speech equation....

'content of the heart'...

And that's what needs to be examined more...

People equate the 'Human Race' with the 'rat race'...

We are programmed to do certain things with certain stimuli (Pavlov's Dog is a fine example), so that we jump through hoops and go through our daily lives in a somewhat happy medium.

Its either the malcontents, being highly intelligent, or of low intelligence that become the problem, because they wont 'get with the program'.

Even still, we are taught to 'strive', to 'be our best', and if your not the 'best', then you simply get left behind. In Public Schools, its the best in level playing fields that we can afford. Whites, blacks, browns, yellows, reds all sit beside each other and learn the same lessons, and each is given a desk and expected to do just that, LEARN.

But, after School, is when the level playing fields ends. As each goes to thier neighborhood or home, they have different stimulis pulling them in all sorts of different way.

Many people cant get ahead because of thier own prejudices preclude them into cooperating with 'that race' of people, or 'them', and others feel thier superior to 'those' types of people, that it becomes a joke to onlookers, but, those who live that life, its a very serious matter.

Someday, we may as yet, level the playing field, but, its not going to be in my life time... as we have a few hundred years of further developement to go through, before we achieve the 'blending' of Society, to that point that maybe prejucides can be put behind us...Unfortunately, it wont be achieved in our life times.

We strive to be Great, but, we must pull those whom we leave behind, up with us, so that we may share it together.

My diatribe is done for this thread..

    I wish you well...

Hey, that was a good 'diatribe'...it was balanced and made sense.

The analogy you used about 'being a level playing field at school'
Made a ton of sense....and then you went on to say 'after school, is when the level playing field ends'...

That too made a ton of sense...and a very good point indeed.

I could frame those words, and they could stand on their own...

But now I will inject some personal thought.

    Or maybe not....
Here's my problem...I could come at it from a ultra-conservative view or a more kind hearted 'liberal view'...

For the fun of it, I'll do both...

    1. Ultra-conservative view...

What happens after school is of no concern of mine...if people, communities, families, are to dense to take advantage of this 'level playing field'...then why burden others with it...

Why keep crying about 'We shall over come'...when some have, and some never will, do to personal ethics...

Example: Those who truly wanted to 'over come' did so back in the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's...

They over came induvisually, and succeeded...irregardless of the decade or their social standings....

Over coming is an induvisual thing...it's not really a 'communal' thing...

There are some branches of every so called 'community' that will 'never over come'...and if anything their going backwards...

And unfortunalty in to many instances, these socially backward induvisuals are used to measure a community as a whole...

Tied or linked to others in that community simply do to skin color...and nothing else...

In Africa, there was hundreds, if not 1000's of seperate tribes and mentalities, with their own language, belief systems, and physical make-up...

When Europe conquered Africa, those distinctions were lost and everyone of African ancestry were given a generic title...'negro' 'black' ect ect...

Those distinction still exist today, amongst every peoples...primarily forged by enviornment.

Anyways, to sum up my ultra-conservitave respone...
I don't think, everyone will over come...nor do I think it's societies burden to make sure they do...

    2. Kind hearted liberal response...

Right now I just don't have one...it's easier to have the kind hearted response, when your removed from the 'street' enviornment or mentality. But when your immersed in it, and observe it daily, your attitude tends to change.
And that's why it's so easy for those who are Proffesiors or who live way off in the hills, to frame it the way they do...
It's easy to love and justify behavior that doesn't personally effect you or your safety.

In my enviornment, I see those who want to make it, and those who don't...those who don't always seem to be a burden to those who do.

Right now I'm not interested in going into 'causes'...
Such as 'lack of opportunity, 'criminal enterprise'...money, profit...ect ect...

These circumstance have existed in every society since the beggining of time...

Drugs have always existed, crime has always existed, and the underclass has always existed...and those who over came all those obsticles early on, are the ones who rule, run, control the world today.

So excuses and poor ethics will only get you left behind, whether on a personal level, or on a national level...

The equation is the same regardless of volume...

Ethics is the key, to resisting temptating destructive habits that can effect generations to come...

You stray, you fall...I can cite examples in my own life to demonstrate that...

But look, to anyone reading this...this is a blog, not a book...and there's so many other ideas I could inject into this to 'balance it out'...but do to the mood I'm in right now it would be 'disingenious' if I did...

So do to time, I must wrap this up...
