My Own Thoughts

Posted 09-16-2011 at 02:17 PM by country pride

Wow I guess that ever-famous saying IS correct. The more people in a town/city, the higher the crime rates are going to be. I just researched the town I live in, population around 3000, and did some comparing to other cities, assorted, in assorted states, our 5 car thefts per year (which I thought was high) couldnt compare to the hundreds, even thousands, in some areas! Murders? I wont go there, no comparison. Burglaries? Whats a burglary? But shoplifters, well, again the stats I read and thought were kinda high for a small town couldnt compare by thousands to the bigger cities. And again, I compared assorted cities and states, not just Calif.
Kinda makes me feel even better about living where I am. Even if these counts were 'inaccurate' (as some people would claim, even though they are based on police reports unless those make mistakes, which wouldnt surprise me for someone to claim) it would take a huge HUGE jump to come anywhere close to other areas, it still beats city life.
Never moving to a city...ever...again! I know they wont miss a simple country girl like me and I sure dont miss the lifestyles, the traffic, the hunderds of stoplights, rush hour traffic and smog. I love it here in Eastern WI and this is where Im going to be till my days are over.

It always amazes me, how, small town 'person' meets big City and becomes a 'statistic'.

Ive talked to people who would actually go to the highway to watch cars go by, because it was the only entertainment in thier small town, (yea, really, it was my Buddys Wife, and I thought that was halarious when she told me that LOL).

Personally, I love small town life, (though, our town is about 24k people or less now)... When you know your neighbor, and can leave your door unlocked, because everyone knows who is who, and have no fear of strangers, then, its a wonderful city in my opinion...

It always amazes me, big City folks, wanting to move to small town, for the peace and quiet, and 'saftey', while, small towners want to move to the 'big City' for all the excitement that they are missing..

Im fine just where I am, and will stay put til they bury me in that six foot of ground, thats reserved for me to be laid to rest

    I wish you well...

I am so happy you made the move. SoCal is a great place to grow up in, but the rural areas are a great place to grow old in... IMO.

Life in a small town is a double edged sword, so I prefer being outside the small town. We have 3 neighbors in a mile long road, 2 are good. You can't beat that.

I live in a very small "village", not even a town, just a post office...it's soo quiet that I can hear the snow fall. Really would like to be in something a little bigger that has a gas station, store.
