A Wonderful 2008 Holiday

Posted 12-27-2008 at 12:37 PM by jemarti

As a mom of 3 + a niece and nephew, the economic conditions posed a real challenge for me in regards to filling some of those "wishes", but what I expected to be stressful turned out to be one of my very best experiences ever!

Not only did my husband and I fulfill most of their wishes, we did so without spending a fortune. As weird as it sounds, I preferred this "budget friendly" experience more than any other year!

Some of those killer deals were:

1. Sandisk Sansa (6GB with 4 GB Expansion) MP3 & Video Player: $58.00 with Shipping! I wasn't paying $148 for an IPOD Nano and my daughter hasn't put this thing down so i know I made an excellent choice. 5 star ratings made this a sure-thing for our tree!
PS: It was a Refurbished Item through Tiger Direct w/ a 1 year warranty. Cha'Ching!

2. Mall Madness (Hannah Montana) - yep, I have a teen who wishes she was Hannah so this was a MUST HAVE under that tree of ours. I found it on walmart.com for $29.99 and put it in my shopping car (that's how I do things) and went back in 3 days later to place the order and Lo'n behold it was SOLD OUT! I was a bit panicked and went on the prowl and boy am I SYKED that it was sold out. At Amazon.com - I got the game for $9.99 and 2 Collector Hannah Dolls for $25.00 INCLUDING Shipping! Talk about a deal of the century!!! $29.99 vs. $9.99 - Double Cha'Ching!

3. Wireless Guitar Hero - What 9 year old DOESN'T Want this thing?? Mine did- big time and when I saw the prices at Walmart ($100 +) I was beginning to think I couldn't pull that one off. Well my office manager came back from a day of shopping and informed me that Big Lots had them for $50. I immediately called the hubby who works right down the road from the store and he ran past after work and got one. When he got there he saw a bunch of cars pulling in and tore off for the front door lol .. he wasn't going to let anyone else wipe out the supply. Another substantial Cha'Ching! PS: My 9 year old disappeared for 6 hours Christmas Day ---- and he's up to the Medium Level and loving that gift!

Now there were numerous other "Great Finds" but those were the most incredible ones that had to be shared. My advice, bookmark

1. Amazon.com
2. Tigerdirect.com
and Register at Big Lots for notifications and make a habit of stopping by regularly after Halloween.

Amazon even had books 1/2 of what walmarts cost ($20 books at walmart were only $10 at Amazon).

This was the most wonderful Holiday EVER!
