I moved to Orlando with my family in August of 1993. Almost 25 years ago. I look back at the industries I've worked in and the part of town I've lived and Orlando has come so far!

When it comes to figuring out where the best part of town is to live, there are so many factors to consider. From the commute to/from work, schools, shopping, future growth...etc...the mere idea of moving can be a headache.
For those of you that have somewhat narrowed your search to a few specific areas of Orlando, my congratulations to you. It can take months and months to find a community that best suits your needs.
As a 20-year resident of Orlando, I really didn't have much choice on where we lived when we moved here. Transplanting from a suburb outside of Chicago, all I can say is that it was quite a culture shock...especially since I was a high school senior when we moved.
After moving out to start my own family, we lived in the Hunters Creek area for almost 10 years. Close to everything but very congested! When our twins were getting ready to enter high school, my husband and I figured this would be the best time to move. (No, I did not want to move them their senior year like my parents did!)
We found the Lake Nona area to be just what we were looking for: good schools within close proximity to each other, extracurricular activities close by, and far enough yet close enough from the congested areas of Orlando. In time, as the area grows I'm sure we'll see our share of congestion...but I have faith that the developers in the area (mainly the Tavistock Group) have already thought this out.
We love the area so much that my husband commutes 30 minutes a day to work at Disney. And I have decided to take my passion for the area to help others find homes out here. Yes, I'm a Realtor. After 8 years of working for homebuilders and losing sight of my growing children, I took a leap of faith and decided to change my career for more flexibility.
Now, have I forgotten about the rest of Orlando? Absolutely not. But I feel that in order to be genuine and true to myself and others, my expertise lies in New Home Construction and the Lake Nona area. I live here, raise my children here, and work here.
For everyone considering a move to Lake Nona, I welcome any questions you may have.
Thanks for reading!

It has been a while since I last visited. I received an email from city-data saying my posts have been read 20,634 times! That so awesome! Awesome that a forum would send that to a subscriber and awesome that even though it's been a while I am hopefully helping others.
