How hard to get a job in good school district

Hi
I would really appreciate if you could explain what you mean by Gallup Survey?
Did you apply to every school even the ones who didnt have specific openings?
I am very interested in hearing about your experience.
It is very scary to hear that there are thousands of unemployed teachers in Dallas area...
thank you so much!!!

I teach 4th grade elementary and moved here from FL last year. I was in the same boat (however, I've got 8 years, not 21). I was in 'limbo' with my certification, but applied to schools anyway.
I didn't get ANY calls for interviews until May/early June. In addition to applying, I emailed principals too. Some principals were put off by me not having a Texas Certification, and I know that hurt me compared to other applicants.
Word of advice: The Gallup Survey...if you don't fare well on the survey, your resume won't get through to principals. It'll just float in HR. You have to get a certain score for it to be seen by principals.
Eventually, I got 3 facetime/phone interviews. Once I got an interview, I was able to land a job in a highly rated school district. You might need to move here first and THEN apply once you have a local address. Will your new salary support your family for a few months until he finds something? Luckily he has the summer to look. Good luck.
