The Stop N Shop at the Springfield Plaza on Liberty Street is a reasonable drive and that's a decent market.

You'll find plenty of people who live in the suburbs who will say rotten things about Springfield but there's actually a lot of good stuff happening.

This couldn't be any further from the truth. I live in Springfield. Out of the major grocery stores Big Y, Stop & Shop, Aldi, and PriceRite. The closest major grocery store around the downtown area is the Stop and Shop on Liberty Street and that's around 3 to 4 miles, as the crow flies, away. There are NONE in any of the distressed neighborhoods, not even close. In fact, if I'm counting correctly, there are only three Stop & Shop's one very close to the Wilbraham line and another near the line of Longmeadow, two Big Y's, one near the line of Longmeadow, one Aldi that is closer to Wilbraham than the center of Springfield and one PriceRite that is closer to Wilbraham than it is to the Downtown. In a city of 150, 000 people this is ridiculous.
The Eastfield Mall, again very close the Wilbraham line, is a very sad place, it's a wonder how that place is still in business. And there are no electronic stores, unless you want to count Walmart or Sears, I don't count Radio Shack. We do have a Lowes, but again, it's near the Wilbraham line.
The only thing that Springfield has going for it is the casino in 2017, and we'll see about that.
