So far my life hasn't worked out, and I'm frustrated because nobody will give me a chance.

I see so many people complaining about how everybody is lazy. Give me a break! I am a 24 year old man with a clean record that can not find any kind of employment for the life of me, after several years of looking since I was 18 because....

1. I don't know the right people
2. Don't have a car (have a valid MA Driver's license and use public transportation and walking) - they accuse me of being unreliable, without proof!
3. I don't have tons of work experience (what about teenagers?)
4. I have a GED instead of a high school diploma
5. I'm not hispanic

If you really want people to work for a living, you will email me or call me right now and offer me a job. You won't use excuses like "you have no car" "you have no experience" "you have employment gaps" etc.

You won't come up with every excuse in the book like every other company I have attempted to get a job at. You will show up to the interview on time, you will answer the phone, call me and tell me what's going on, instead of lying to my face by saying you will "get back to me". Virtually every job interview I have gone on wether it be Stop and Shop, a restaurant for washing dishes, a retail store, or a warehouse not a single one of these has resulted in a job offer after several years. That doesn't include the thousands of online applications I have filled out, or follow ups I have made.

Even Market Basket wasn't hiring. I was turning in applications to different locations for about a year, then I finally decided to take it up a notch and call the manager about my application. What I got was a rude, terrifying lecture from an older gentleman about his his store wasn't hiring and not to bother checking back with him. So much for being a good company. Someone actually has the decency to follow up on their job application and present themselves well, and they get immediately shut down. Someone showing that they want to work is a burden.

Of course, no employers or individuals will do it. It's easier to say "nobody wants to work" then offer someone a job. Someone that took the time to dress nice, speak well, and present themselves. It's better to just jerk people around and not get back to them. I could apply to work at a mcdonald's restaurant across the street from north station, but the people that work there won't find it an acceptable way of me getting there every day. That, and the fact that I'm not in bed with somebody that already works there I never get the job.

The unemployment rate could be 1% and people would still find a reason to reject me for a job. A week later they tell the Lowell Sun that they are "desperate" to hire people. Liar, you aren't desperate for anything else you wouldn't have rejected this bright man.

And yet, all I continue to hear from people is: "people are lazy" "nobody wants to work" "jobs are everywhere!"

But yet here I am being rejected from jobs for such ridiculous trivial little things. Want to know why people really can't find jobs or just get them? It's because of the way the hiring process works and the people that do the hiring that are the problem. Not people like me. I am innocent. I'm just not accepted by people no matter how hard I try to please them, or how hard I try to prepare myself. Managers make excuses to not hire people. To not hire me. Stupid ones. I could live across the street but because I don't drive a car I don't get the job? Because I don't have at least a year of work experience? Seriously?

The situation was depressing enough after all these years, being broke and poor, collecting cans to make some pocket change. I should have been able to get myself established years ago, but instead I just kept getting screwed over, my time wasted on BOGUS interviews and being lied to by managers about how they were going to call me about if I got the job or not, and they don't.

Is it a Massachusetts thing? Jerk people around and don't hire them?

Now my mother is dying of cancer and when she dies it's to the streets for me. Right after I get blown off for a part time crew member job at mcdonald's by some married-to-six-figures soccer mom manager because she doesn't trust me because I take the bus to work everyday. She says I'm "unreliable". Hiring sign in the window. Virtually EVERY COMPANY I have applied at and attempted to get a job at has left me in the dirt.

Since 2009. That's IF I even got that far in the process without getting rejected by some personality test. To wash dishes I have to take a psychological test. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to applying at Mcdonald's for the 300th time without getting so much as a phone call for an interview, even though they have a huge "NOW HIRING" sign outside. Maybe they should change it to "Now Hiring NOBODY".

"People are lazy, nobody wants to work."

Lazy has nothing to do with it. If you only knew what has been done to me. If you only knew.
