10 Distilleries to go to for the Rum!

Posted 09-11-2015 at 03:30 PM by DrinkMicro

About: When I think of Rum I think of Pirates or sailors, and from a historical stand point it’s a valid association as sailors often had wage in rum particularly if the Captain had something to celebrate. The other thing that comes to mind is R. Kelly’s “Ignition” song, “sipping on coke and rum/I’m like so what I’m drunk/It’s the freakin’ weekend baby I’m about to have me some fun…” And I love coke and rum, it’s really the only why I can handle rum at all. So now that that song is stuck in your head (no thanks to me) and you probably are experiencing a slight hankering for some rum… You should probably also check out the following Micro Distilleries:

1. Connecticut Valley Distillery – “Smuggler’s Rum”

Location:148 Forest St, Manchester, CT 06040

About: What distinguishes one premium rum from another? It’s all in the water. Well, not only the water, but the better the water, the better the rum. That’s why Connecticut Valley Distillery chose its water source before establishing a new facility in Ellington, Connecticut: to be close to a pure mountain spring water source. The best water source provides the crisp notes and smooth taste that owner and master blender Rich Gummoe sought in creating Smuggler’s Rum.

2. Syntax Spirits – “Powder White Rum”
