Many children get critically ill but do not die. Why are they of no concern to you? Is there no value in keeping children out of the intensive care unit?
Is there some critical number of deaths that must be prevented before you consider a vaccine valuable? If 14 is not enough, does it need to be 140? 1,400? 14,000? 140,000? 1,400,000?
The VPD that kills the most people in this country is influenza, by the way, adults and children. For the current flu season the number of pediatric deaths is now 77. No, they all did not have some underlying health problem, and past experience tells us that 90% will not have been vaccinated.
