Why does the average cashier at Costco make $16 an hour but the average cashier at Walmart/SAMs makes $9.50 an hour?

That would be a an average Costco Cashier who has been employed at Costco for at least 5 years because they are Teamsters Union and there are pay raises depending on how long you've worked for them. I don't know what the starting pay rate is now or if it has changed at all since I started in 2003 at 10.50 an hour and 13 37 in 2006 when I left
