I have been on an opioid for years. My Internist was being intimidated by DEA so she referred me to wonderful pain mgmt doctor who has worked with wounded soldiers. He actually worked at Walter Reed for a time.

We decided to keep me on my low dose of Fentanyl- it takes the edge off my pain and has given me some quality of life. I can do my housework and a little bit of gardening. I cannot walk very far unfortunately because of pain in my legs.

Listen to her and never be afraid to tell her how you are feeling. Pain Mgmt doctors are the best actually. I am fortunate to have good insurance (through my husband) plus my medicare. Just turned 65. When I went to Dr. B I had planned to go off the Fentanyl but he said I am on such a low dose which I am and choose to be that it doesn't matter and I should just stay on if it's working for me.

I keep my Medical History on my hard drive - listed in chronological order. Doctors are impressed with it and say it reminds them of what Engineers bring to them. Ha! I always update and bring a copy with me for their files. It's only 6 pages long- not too bad. Again doctors love this...

Very happy for you and wish you much relief...
Thank you! That is one of the options they gave me to consider but my biggest hold up (which I plan to ask about) is the ability to drive. I am still working full time as I am the breadwinner and insurance carrier in our family and work 20 miles away in a city with no real public transportation. Have you found you were able to adjust to it enough to safely drive? I have been scraping by (barely) during the day until I can get home but my PM doctor said that many people on a patch or cr version are able to drive once their bodies adjust.

She has laid out various options and I has two more weeks to decide on the best fit. I have CRPS in my right leg but it’s currently at a level where I can still drive and walk on it most of the time. But it’s pretty much hell to get through the day. If you have any insight I’d love to hear it!

    Blogs Are For Journaling Only

If you need to just interact with another poster, then please use the Direct Message or Visitor Message to reach that person directly and personally (and more quickly). It beats wasting a blog post. Otherwise, I suggest replying on the main forum pages.

Then after you've reached out to your party, you can then share that experience and your results on these blog pages. Please bear in mind that these lesser-populated blog pages are for journaling only. Thanks.
