Florida Children Chase Rabbits to the Big Leagues

Posted 07-09-2019 at 10:33 AM by fatsquirrel

Over the past few days I have investigated a rare subculture in America which is that of rabbit chasers. Rabbits and unfortunately squirrels often fall victim to children and their dogs because they're viewed as prey.

Squirrels are traditionally eaten at the eastern end of Long Island because the Native Americans believe they suffocate children due to being attracted to milk on babies breath.

In central Florida, which is outside of Miami by the same distance as Albany is from NYC, the fathers pick sugar cane, and the children burn the old canes in the field after school to flush out rabbits.

Once they catch the rabbits they sell the meat and hides to the wealthy in Miami. Fur is not an essential clothing item in Miami for obvious reasons so it doesn't get as much profit as it would in the north. They fry the rabbits with a lot of spicy sauce to keep the meat from tasting like hard rat meat.

Due to the nature of their quarry they become very fast and many join the NFL. That's how their story became known through Adidas ads.

Otherwise rich Americans would view rabbit hunting as barbarous because they buy meat from the store, but not everybody is lucky enough to be able to do that.
