Charlottesville VA - To Whom it May Concern

Posted 06-29-2009 at 08:28 PM by Cowboy74

Hello,

I am writing this as an additional networking tool. I have read the "What color is my parachute" to no avail...well I read what I could stay awake for, just hard for me to read that is all. However the one thing I did take away from or rather remembered was the fact I have tried more then 95% of the job search methods they identify, at one time. According to the author using more than 4 begins to decrease your productivity and likelyhood of finding a position. So, where has the book left me...same place I started...unemployed and going on more than a year and a half in Austin TX wondering what to do next. I was a successful analyst working for the Department of Defense in the NoVA area and decided to take my then fiancee and move to Austin, to get away from the rat race in D.C. Well we are now wanting to move back closer to my wife's family but not to the rat race..IF WE CAN HELP IT. We have done enough research, and I have been to the great town, to know Charlottesville is the best of all worlds for us. Small town with character, interesting things to do, and close to family up North. The catch...I need a job and well my wife will need a job subsequently if we are going to move to Charlottesville VA.
Me first though, and how to do that has been a challenge thus far and I am pleading to the masses for help. I have and am trying to re-implant myself into the DoD, especially since I have the credentials, background, and clearance...but things don't seem to be meshing as quickly I thought they would or as I want them to. So I was hoping to get some intelligent, constructive, and maybe even a lead or two on possible vocations in Charlottesville VA I haven't thought about.
Hopefully this will be the first blog of many with some interesting conversation, leading me to a position in a great town, close to my wife's family and our friends in NoVA. I am tired of being patient, but don't know what avenues I have missed to be more proactive and would be greatly appreciative for thoughts and maybe even a prayer.

Thanks
Cowboy
