Wondering...

Hi. I'm new here and thought I should post my first blog, for all to see!

I currently live on the eastside of Seattle (that is East of Lake Washington)...

My work background is Escrow (you know, the closing part of a real estate transaction!?)... I am also a licensed Real Estate Agent (all this license does right now is cost me money). I did make some money selling real estate in this area, 2-3 years ago. I have been divorced now for close to 5 years (and have chosen to remain single). I started bartending (for more stable income), almost 3 years ago (same employer), until last Tuesday 8/25/09, when I was FIRED!!! Honestly, I did not deserve to be fired. (Believe me, I am one of the most honest, hard working, reliable, punctual, customer service oriented people you will meet! I have been in the customer service industry, all my working life (almost 30 years), and have never had issues with my employers OR customers! A couple of weeks ago I broke a mohler on a 'pork' egg roll, which I was eating at work (I worked at a Chinese Restaurant & Lounge)... I didn't file an L & I claim... Then last Tuesday I was fired while trying to explain to the owner, that I had several customers complaining about the bad food/service from our kitchen (you'd think she'd be happy that I brought this to her attention)!? She then started yelling at me in the kitchen, holding me hostage by her threats of firing ME for 'not doing my job'! I simply expressed that it was difficult, at best, to give the level of service she requires, due to all the mistakes, burnt food, missing orders, etc., from the kitchen! WOW, how did I end up here? My customers had to come rescue me from the kitchen! They needed to go, and I needed to give them their tabs! One of the customers even told her 'this is very innapropriate', and 'she (meaning me), does a great job'! The owner then had me work all day, (not knowing if I had a job, or not)... Until the next bartender on shift showed up early!!! I was then sat down by the crazy owner, in the restaurant (in front of customers, AGAIN), as she proceded to yell at me, this time calling me STUPID, while shaking her little chinese finger at me! Oh, did I mention she is NUTS? Anyhow, It's not like I hadn't heard her screaming, yelling and carrying on before (just never directed at ME) :-/ !!! There is a lot of domestic violence going on in this place of business, (between the owners and kitchen/wait staff)! The police have been there on numerous occasions. I think the last time they were in was a few weeks ago, when one of the owners (the husband) was running around the kitchen with a knife, chasing one of the waiters!! I am telling you they are both CRAZY! What a great way to bring in more business, huh? What a joke! Maybe getting fired was the best thing for me! I'm now out of work, and may lose my place, but I am SAFE, right? There are a few other things as well that could probably shut them down, but I wouldn't want to cause any trouble... OR WOULD I???

Thanks for listening... I feel much better now!

My best friend worked for a Chinese dentist in an office that was run by his mother. I totally agree with you. The mother was very abusive to to my friend who had 30 years experience as a dental assistant. She was not only good at her job, but extremely good with the people she serviced.
She was hesitant in the beginning because they had 6 assistants in 4 years, however, she took the job.
After a lot of verbal abuse by the mother, she finally made the decision to quit and both the dentist who liked her work and the mother were totally apologetic. But it was too late. She walked.
Some people don't deserve your attention.
Never give up who you are for money.

Thanks. I am definitely happy to NOT be serving anymore of her 'crappy' food! Unfortunately, it was my job, my livelihood... my means! It is just such a poor time to be unemployed! For every job listed, in which I apply, there are some 150 applicants. Yikes! :/
