Newcomer to USA

Posted 09-17-2009 at 01:54 AM by Mick English

I have recently accepted a Regional Sales Manager's role based in SW Charlotte and need to buy a place within 40 mins or so travel.
Trouble is, I currently live in UK!
Just myself and my wife (mid 40s) will be settling in the USA and we like it quiet although as we will be trying to get to know people we do not want too remote.
We will be moving over permanently in Feb 2010 but coming for a week or so in Dec 2009 for a looksee.
All constructive suggestions of where to look and what factors to consider will be gratefully received as you can imagine, there's a lot for us to take in in such a short time.
Initially, we would rent and consider buying when we had a good feel for the area.

Thanks in advance!
