I am concerned about action taken against two young students at my local High School.
A boy saw a part pack of tablets on the ground at recess, he picked it up; his mate said “What’s that give me a look”, the boy handed it to him. A teacher swooped, crying drug deal, the headmaster cried ‘on selling prescription drugs’,( which has been written into his school records) - police were called. The parents not informed until this was over, told that the principal (who made the allegations) had stood in as the required adult present.
The boys, charged with ‘supplying a prescription drug’ and ‘receiving a prescription drug,’ are to face court.
Legal Aid, police resources and court time will be used at taxpayers’ expense. Both children were suspended, their records marked with drug offences. An extreme and expensive overreaction. Followed by one of the boy's teachers entering the classroom and declaring that they had caught the boys dealing drugs and they had been suspended prior to expulsion. Is there any thing the parents can do? Legal Aid is being followed up for the court case but the teacher's actions seem wrong.
