Domestic Disturbance

Posted 11-19-2022 at 02:55 PM by Best817ch

There is something that really bothers me when it comes to domestic violence. Sure, when police are called about three police cars with two officers in each vehicle arrive. However, after they leave, then what? I'm sure we all have seen Julia Roberts in "Sleeping With The Enemy" or Jennifer Lopez in "Enough" and if not they are good movies. Even in those movies though, the women had to take measures into their own hands - literally. Dixie Chicks also has a video called "Earl's Got to Die" and that video shows the same thing - they call the police, police do nothing, so the ladies do what they have to do. It's a funny video really.

However, in real life, women suffer from domestic violence and most of them end up in the hospital or worse at the morgue. And the reason for this post is because (you guessed) I was a victim, who is proud to have gotten out of that, and even more proud to have helped a few women escape the same situation. And just so everyone knows, there are some women who are the abuser. Anyway, I am ranting because my ex (abuser) is currently sitting in the county jail when he should be sitting in prison instead. I know it sounds harsh, but it is true and it is seriously disturbing me.

Let me explain: in May of this year he was arrested with the following charges: domestic violence, a felon armed with two guns, and assault putting his domestic partner in the ICU. The gun charges alone he should get four to five years in prison times two. This is his third domestic violence violation which should be one to three years. And for goodness sake, he put a young women in the intensive care unit. But because he has rights he is fighting the charges, denying he did anything, and is taking it to trial. Regardless, if the female doesn't press charges, he still deserves to go to prison.

Not to mention that his parents had had a restraining order against him for a year which they just reknewed this year a month before he went to jail. Does he sound like someone who should be released when even his parents have restricted him to go near them? This is just one case and I am positive I am not the only one with a similar situation. What could we do to make laws more strict on violent people? Is there anything I could do for him to get prosecuted?

Bad things happen when people make the CHOICE of hooking up with abusers. Time to recognize the basic fact and stop making the psychobabble excuses for it.
