I've noticed the new design on the home page, but I have a question.
We used to be able to search for towns on that page and it would come up with the data sheet for that town. I live in Wyoming and a large number of our towns are under 200 people, hence, they don't show up on the list. The only way we could hunt up data before, was to do a search. Now there doesn't appear to be a way of doing that. Were these data sheets for the smaller towns eliminated, or are they still there and I just can't find them?
Hate to see the data go away on about half of the towns in the state.
There is a search box right in the middle of the banner at the top of the page, doesn't it work?
No, it doesn't. I used to be able to do a google search for small towns and it would list a City Data page and I could click on it. Even that is gone now.
Like I said, probably half the towns in Wyoming are small towns. A while back, I wanted some data on one and it would not show on the list, because it was under 200. But, I could back out to the original screen and it had a place to enter a town name. By putting it in that box and hitting search, I was able to find it. Can't remember which town so I could test it again. But I dug out ye ole map and entered about 10 towns at random and none of them come up with a City Data page.
Not that it's a big deal, you don't often see people researching that small of a town, but we have several oil booms going on and people are trying to find "any kind of dwelling they can", no matter where. Some of these people are driving 120 miles, one way to work because it was the only place they could find a place to rent, or even buy.
I just went to the portal and entered "Seattle washington" in the box and got sent to this page (The other data will NOT LOAD IF YOU HAVE SCRIPTS DISABLED! (If will all be blank unless you have them enabled))
Would you mind telling me what exactly doesn't work about that search box? Because I do seem to get the results you are talking about.
Some towns show up, some don't. For instance, Recluse, Hamilton Dome, Salt Creek, Wolf, etc... do not show up. For those that do show up, how do I access the page that shows all of the information about the town? Or, do I have to use one item at a time to look at, from the drop down menu?

I looked, and looked, I can't find Seattle washington in the state of Wyoming.
Towns of more than 200, show up on the regular list, it's only the towns of less than 200.
If you look at say, "Sheridan Wyoming". On a single page, I can look at schools, stats as far as residents, real estate, income, etc... It used to be that the smaller towns were not listed in the Wyoming section, but out in the original screen, you could type in the name of a town and it would give you that full data sheet, showing everything. Now, what I have found is that some towns are missing, and the truth is, they might have always been missing. I can't remember the towns that I have looked up in the past. So I started looking for information on small towns and there are several that do not have any data, and even those that show up on the map, I can't find a way to view the sheet anymore.
If that is the way it is now, that's fine, but if for some reason, it dropped some links, I wanted to point it out.
