Hello!

I've recently learned how to take a "snapshot" of satellite images as seen from Virtual Earth, Google Earth, etc. I was wondering if this forum would permit posting such snapshots as a means to better pinpoint locations for people in order to better address their inquries. I've seen some folks post Mapquest images before on here with no problems, but I know satellite imagery is a bit more "touchy" because you can see not only roadways but also homes, yards, vehicles, etc.

Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year!

When in doubt, always check the website policy on such matters, please. Google Earth says here: "You can personally use an image from the application (for example on your website, on a blog or in a word document) as long as you preserve the copyrights and attributions including the Google logo attribution."

Thank you very much, Marka, for the clarification. In other words this forum would permit us to post these snap shots as long as we specify that the work belongs to one of these two entities and retain the logo. That's good to know. Now I can have some REAL fun!

Just remember that the photos on Google earth can be very outdated
The few places I checked the photos seemed to be 2 to 3 years old
So if you are going to post a picture of something might be a help to remind folks it may not be current.

The picture of my backyard is at least two years old. However, the changes would be more likely to be additions (roads, etc) than subtractions.

lol on m/s virtual(1999) we didn't exist but it was interesting to see what our subdivision looked like before they cleared it to build.
