Getting sick of seeing:

"You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later." or

"You need to spread more before giving more Reps to this person" (or whatever it says)

You like something and you try to give it a Rep and most of the time you will get one or the other above.

Wish we could just have Like Buttons like a lot of other sites have.

Or have unlimited freedom on the Reps, one per post of course.

I can't say if the current limits are optimal, but the idea that rep is a somewhat valuable commodity, to be spent with care and not piled on one person, is better than unlimited plastic medals with a thumbs-up on them.

I assume they're trying to keep people from having their friends rep-spam them... but... so what? I don't put any store by the rep system except that it tells me that others liked what I posted or I can use it to tell others I liked what they posted. I don't look at a person's rep score, I don't look at mine. I guess if other people get off on appearing popular to others, based on rep they know is a lie, let them have at it.

If I rep a person a lot, it just means they're saying a lot of stuff I agree with.

City-Data is not a Facebook where people give/collect likes. It's meaningless. Makes no one happy.
It is meant to reward an exceptional, informative, well written post and 35 reputations a day is plenty.

35 to get or give? I often can’t give reps even to people i’ve never noticed before. The first person i encounter it works. Then the next two or three i try the reps just don’t seem to take. I’ve wondered if it’s a router problem on my end. Maybe some kind of tiny pause that messes up the transmission.

Give. You can't give THE SAME person rep points before giving other people first. It's for a reason.
See explanations about Reputation Points by clicking on RULES & FAQ's on the bottom of my post.

That has been clear that you can’t give points frequently to the same person and there is a message that says that. For me, and maybe others, i go to a completely new to me forum and see a well conceived response, but my rep doesn’t appear to take. But perhaps its too soon after an earlier rep to someone else. Maybe 5 or 10 minutes. This is just for the moderator ‘s FYI. I’m willing to blame my cable service.

I've never had trouble repping two or more posts in succession. That sounds like a browser problem.
