How does it hurt? There is always the Subscribed Forums feature if you want to avoid unnecessary clicks or your browser's bookmarks if it's the scrolling that's the problem.

It hurts because your server can't handle the load as it is. Adding more forums just slows things down even further. And, that is frustrating.
I prefer to view many areas of the board. Your suggestion to go with the Subscribe option would obviously limit the amount of material that i would be exposed to. I'm baffled as to why you would want members to view less of the site????
Server load is not a big problem at this time. We have completed behind the scenes upgrades to both our hardware and software a couple months ago. In any case, adding new forums should have minimal effect on the forum performance.
IMO it's a great idea. I'm not completely sure what the focus of this forum will be, but I'm glad to have a place to put the threads about crimes that really don't belong in the city forums and really aren't controversial enough for the POC forum. Before now, they were being exiled to the OT forum, but that wasn't really the right place for them either.
Interesting.
That has just not been my experience.
In over 3 1/2 years I haven't seen disruption of connection worth discussing.
Is CD hosted in multiple facilities?
From my standpoint, this forum has been a very dependable and routinely quick load for me.
Not Craigslist quick, but compared to forums that I have avoided for slow downloads, CD has been excellent.
Yes, we needed the True Crime forum. I was trying to figure out where to post something on the subject and could not find a place for it. The True Crime forum fit the bill.
I've never has the CD server time-out. Perhaps it is your computer.
I think it is great to have a new forum where you can discuss crime news events without it being in the political arena! It is also nice to have them all in the same place instead of having to hunt for them through the various state forums. No slow downs here.
