I am thinking of doing an African Safari in 2020. What are your thoughts of Kenya vs. South Africa?

Much larger number of big animals, easier to get to, in Tanzania. I believe some easy to see in Tanzania cannot be found in SA at all, but I don't have a list. I think most safaris you can book in Kenya are mostly in Tanzania, not many game parks on Kenya.

I can only offer advice about South Africa but Kruger National Park is pretty well equipped for game drives and tourists. I imagine you might get a more raw experience in Kenya though as we're probably a bit more built up

Kenya - more animals , the great migration. But the animals like leopards are not in high density and too many safari jeeps crowd the poor animals once they are spotted ( they ignore the rules completely ).

South Africa - has public parks and also private game reserves. The latter will restrict the number of vehicles at any given spot so you get a better experience. But it costs more per person than Kenya or Tanzania.
