This post actually spawned from me looking for a fun team name for my Fantasy Football team this year.

I was born in '81 in West Akron and was going through my head, trying to remember what West Market St looked like back to my earliest memories. Particularly the businesses located between Sand Run and Wallhaven.

I remember Bisson's. The China Gourmet was a Wendy's. Ken Stewart's Grille was Folsey's (I think). Lou & Hy's Deli, Revco, Smoker's World and the news stand behind it. Fairlawn Lanes, Baulan's Fairlawn Restaurant, Gold Circle, etc. There was a Krispy Kream next to West Point. And the Akron Library too.

Basically, I was hoping that people out here might have old pictures of these places that they could scan and upload. I actually found a Gold Circle logo and one picture of Fairlawn Restaurant out on the Internet.

I think I'm using Fairlawn Restaurant as my Fantasy Football team name. My friends will probably be blown away by the "nostalgicity" of the name.

Thanks!

I've found a few cool sites on Akron history but none from this time period. If I come across some, I'll be sure to post them.

Baulan's in the late 70's had a happy hour special of deep fried smelt, fries and a goblet of cold Blatz for 2.09.
