Hi,

We're new to the area and are settled in Stow. My daughter is begging to go to a beach and it is a bit of a drive up to Lake Erie. Is there a small lake with a sandy beach that is closer? Thanks!

Is it free, again? They had been charging an entrance fee for it a couple of years ago - not sure if that's still in place.

I think Munroe Falls Metro Park has a beach that is sandy. I will say though Headlands near Mentor is fannnnnntastic.... of course that is Lake Erie, but it isn't *that* far.

I never knew Portage lakes state park charged a fee,I pretty sure its free. I know the park in Monroe falls that square better than all mentioned charges a fee.

Portage Lakes does not charge any fees... I go there often, they don't have any means of charging fees as the entrance is uncontrolled.. Beach it fairly nice although I've never been there when it's busy..

I stand corrected. I could've sworn a few years back that certain state parks, including PL, were slated to start charging fees to day users. Maybe it never got off the ground.
