Hello all,
I have recently accepted a job at Bibb Correctional. We have to be moved down there within the month. We are looking to live in Tuscaloosa. I was wondering where a good apartment would be. I dont want to spend more than 1000 a month. I would like an area that is in a pretty safe area. I have a 2 year old. So somewhere we could go out to a park and have a little fun. If it is possible, we would like to be away from the university. Anyone have a suggestions? Thanks

I'm sorry, but we just don't have but a couple of members who are familiar with Tuscaloosa, and they don't post very often.
You might want to do a search of both the general Alabama forum and the Birmingham forum.
Best of luck to you!

Will try to help-- This is not specific enough maybe it will help some. There is a nice place with a lake and walking paths with condos and apartments close by. The street that passes by the hospital, and crosses university blvd, if you are coming from the u of a, turn left there. You will pass the hampton inn on the right, keep going and you will see the area I am talking about. On the right there is a park with walking paths and a lake. condos are on the left. maybe on the right too.
sorry not more specific. Looks very nice to me

Southlander is right we just don't have a lot of folks from T-town. Try doing a search this forum on Tuscaloosa too. There are 20 threads that might help you. I have a friend who use to live near the mall in a nice little apt complex . There is a big lake and lots of places all around it. you might also want to look into Northport just outside of T town. I don't know where your job is so I am just throwing suggestions at you. I would venture to say that in your price range you will be in a safe neighborhood.

Are you really going to pass up the opportunity to live in Brent or Centreville?

That's what I am trying to figure out. Where to live? I looked a T-Town, but I am open to anything.

The Hillcrest area, which is in South Tuscaloosa, is pretty nice. I'm not sure about the prices. You could also check out places in Northport which is on the North side of the river.

Check out these websites. They show where the University is on the map so you can see how close the apartment might be to the University.

Is there a specific reason you want to live in and commute from Tuscaloosa? Bibb County has many small towns that are nice places to raise a family. Brent/Centreville, West Blocton, and Woodstock come to mind. I think in the area of Brent and Centreville you could find a house to rent in the $1000/mo range.
