I have visited Foley and Gulf Shores and fell in love with the area, but am wondering what kind of jobs are available that pay half way decent, I would be looking for a delivery driving job since that is what I have experience in but am open to various types of employment, anyone know of some good companies in Baldwin County?

I would check out joblink.alabama.gov. Foley nor Gulf Shores are pretty small. What do you consider 'decent' pay? My bil works as a auto mechanic in Foley, my niece's husband is a cop in Orange Beach and my other niece works at a bank, so there are jobs but the pay may be your biggest problem. There is a home depot and you might be able to drive a truck for them.
If you don't mind getting up early, you should check out delivering the newspaper. My sister did this for years and made good money at the time, but the hours are EARLY and every day.

Cajunflavor,

If you have any pics, please post them. We are planning on visiting that area in a few months to look at moving down there. If you find any decent jobs, let us know as I am looking for the same thing. Good Luck!

One thing to remember- the closer you live to the beach the more you will payto live there. There are lots of jobs available everywhere. Almost every fast food resturant has a sign posted at the drive thru window advertising starting at $8.00-$9.00 an hour. Every store I go into has a sign posted at their entrance- "Help Wanted". This is in Spanish Fort, Daphne, Fairhope, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Watch the classified section of the Baldwin Register. Everyone I talk to says it over and over "good help is hard to find".

Thanks KEEPER for the employment info, I found some of the larger employers online like Wal Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Swift Supply. Is Baldwin county mostly retired people? from what I have read it looks like a mixed age group but was just wondering. I really like the small town feel and the easy going lifestyle of of Baldwin county, much better than Denver Colorado where I live now, don't get me wrong, Colorado is beautiful and I have enjoyed it for 27 years, but the first time I traveled to the south I liked that so much better, I do better on the beach than the mountains anyway.

Some areas have more retirees like Fairhope, not so much in Foley, but of course there are some retirees. Summerdale has an RV park where many park their RVs and live there for a couple of months but it is by no means like FL. where whole areas are invaded during the winter months, mainly because it does get cold in AL. There are some nice little towns all around Foley, Magnolia Springs, Silverhill, Summerdale, Bon Secour, Robertsdale and Loxley to name a few but Foley is the largest in this area. Spanish Fort and Daphne are where a lot of people live who work in Mobile.
If you want to buy an older house the prices aren't as high as in Spanish Fort or Daphne in Foley.
If you are wanting lots of places to go out to shop, go out to eat and maybe party then Foley would fit that requirement.
