My fiancee and I are looking to move to Alabama in 2016? We have been looking forward to this for awhile. He is from Greenville, however he says he will move anywhere I chose. I just need to know how to get more information on the economy, jobs and housing in different areas.

What type of jobs are you looking for? So much depends on your jobs. N AL has many engineers and other jobs that are gov't. There are also manufacturing jobs anything from Remington to chicken plants

S. AL has some jobs for people who are able to weld and do other manufacturing.

Small towns are all around but the avg pay is usually much less however the cost of living in the area is usually lower too. Fast food avg pay is min wage usually, WalMart is a lot of part time work but full timers you will start out min wage normally. Places like the chicken plants in NE AL start out higher pay and you can do well there.

I currently work for the State of Ohio, the Department of Workers Compensation. I also work for the local Childrens Hospital. My fiancee does construction.

You can go to the State of Alabama Personnel website and get on the register to apply for state jobs, most of which will be in the Montgomery area, though there are state jobs all over, depending on which department.

For construction jobs, you will have to be near a growing area. Shelby county just south of Birmingham, the Huntsville area, and Baldwin county in South Alabama are the fastest growing parts of the state.

Downtown Birmingham is one big construction zone right now. And healthcare is huge in the city as well.
