Hi, my husband and I are looking at Muscle Shoals because he's a professional drummer and we wonder if he might find work there. I understand it's a very unique 'music city' that has a lot of integrity. what's it like living there? and what about the job situation for him and someone like me who could be a tutor or sub.teacher? thanks! - Heidi

Muscle Shoals does historically have a very musical past. As of lately, it's not so much known for it, though the Shoals does have some good nightlife in Florence. If you're really looking for somewhere for him to succeed, you'd probably be better off trying Huntsville. The city is growing, so there are always going to be new clubs and bars that need someone to play for them.

As far as you getting a job as a teacher in the Shoals, you could probably easily find one. The area is still growing, though at a rather slow pace, so there's going to be a need for subs.

As far as quality of life, it's a very nice area to live in. I've never lived there, but during my visits, I've found it a very nice place to wonder around in.

my husband lived there his whole life. You would find no problem finding sub work. But the best your husband would be able to do is get an $8.00-10.00 hr job because there isn't alot of work unless you have a bachloers degree or formal degree. But as far as his music goes if he could find the right people to play with he would love it. The area is very pretty, the rent/houses are affordable and the people are so nice. I loved the whole area and wished i still lived there.
