good luck to your hubby! Most people that move to Alabama are pleasantly surprised. We have beautiful landscape with rolling hills and lots of trees! The larger cities are probably a little easier to "fit in." Just like anywhere you go...the more rural...the harder to fit into a group of people. But, in general I like to think we are nice people. I live in Hoover. We have a great diversity, great schools, and great shopping! Lots of apartments and rental homes. I too am moving from this great state in the summer. We are going to Jackson,MS for an opportunity we couldn't pass up. So, Good luck to you!

From a practical standpoint, look at a place from which, if he were to get layed off, he could find another job locally without having to move. I would think that living in a small town with only one instance of his company would be riskier than living in Birmingham for example, where in he would more easily find his "Plan B" job.
