I'm looking at a property which is an unfinished cabin in Trapper Creek, AK. Apparently it is in a subdivision next to the Princess Lodge. We stayed at the Princess Lodge in May and fell in love with the area. Does anyone know the name of the subdivision I would be referring to? How about any other relevant information I should be aware of?

The closest subdivision to the Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge near Trapper Creek is the Tolovankorga subdivision, just west of the lodge, on Petersville Road. Rangeview is the name of the subdivision east of the Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge on Petersville Road, closer to Trapper Creek.

It is a good location for ptarmigan and grouse hunting this time of year. The area is a lot colder and gets about 50% more snow during the winter than Anchorage, just 130-140 miles to the south. Because of the snow (which averages over 100" annually), Petersville Road is the destination of many Alaskans with their snow machines, cross-country skiing, and other winter activities. Summers are hotter and more humid than around Anchorage, but only about 10°F warmer. The Susitna River and Montana Creek confluence is not far from Petersville Road and a good location for catching King salmon. Kings, Silvers, and Rainbows are also caught in the Talkeetna River, which isn't far.

There are some private homes over there up on the road that goes to Princess (off mile 133 on the Parks). That area may be what you're talking about. Don't know if it has a name or not. I ran into a friend in Fairbanks last winter who'd moved there recently.
