US news is not that reliable.
It heavily emphasizes"peer assessment",which means,if people from lower states know nothing about Alaska, the score will be very low.

UAF is ranked 4th tier,too.

Not being a liberal state has it's drawbacks as far as rankings in polls and opinions.
But we can live with it.

I have another question. Is UAS a nationally accredited school?

But University of Alaska Anchorage is a top tier school, so they do know about Alaska.

Is is really surprising that a small school like Juneau is not "the Harvard of the North"?

It takes a little more than living in Anchorage to actually know about Alaska.

To be honest, I'd rather study and live in a place like Juneau despite it being the smaller city and having the smaller college. Juneau is beautiful place. Anchorage is well... just not Alaska.

I've never even heard of US News and News Report. Whatever they say, UAS has one of the top Marine Biology programs in the West. As for Anchorage, my cousin goes there and I think he likes it, but honestly, Anchorage and Juneau aren't really comparable. Anchorage is a big city with big city amenities, but it is, and there is no other word for it, flat. Juneau is harder to get to, on and on, but you can't beat it for surroundings. It is also, for the record, far more liberal than the rest of the state. With exception to the Valley, Juneau is like an ex-hippie paradise!

UAA is just a Master(west),57 school, not National unviersity 57(like boston university).
UAA is not a real top school.

Oh, but I am. For my news I read the Empire/Bee (depending on where I am) and that is plenty news for me. Plus, how accurate can it be, saying that UAS is a bad school?
