Default Some More simple ear-rings

These are so simple to make, they each take less than 15 minutes to create from start to finish.

Do you buy the earrings already made like that and then add the earring clips?

No Pat.. We use scrap pieces, draw the shape we want , then smooth it all out & polish them. The last step is to drill a 1/16" small hole and super glue the ear-ring studs in place.

shown in the image above are two shapes to be made into Ulu ear-rings, handles are not made here yet. We use small pieces of scraps to make our ear-rings. This is so simple any child is capable of duplicating these results. You or anyone can easily generate a huge amount of money just by selling simple ear-rings made using bone, baleen & ivories of different types. We often use 'templates" as the double diamond with insets is shown.

Default New Ivories were purchased today.

We have some new material to work with.

Two pieces of fossil ivory; and one piece of white ivory (tagged).

The two pieces of fossil ivory have been sliced up, the bottom dark one is great as it is. No need to soak those pieces in baby oil, but the larger of the two needs to have the pieces soaked in baby oil to bring out the colors to a much darker hue(s) of orange-ish shades.

Lots of new photos coming soon.

I bought a few carved pieces from fossil ivory when I was in Juneau... one was a whale tail and the other a hump back whale... made a necklace out of them... I do love the colors... can't wait

Find a tusK that has a scrimshaw drawing on it; purchase it; and cut the whole tusk up. Now you have white ivory to work with that is LEGAL!!

Default Soaking fossil ivory slices in baby oil.. overnight

Well we cut up the fossil ivory first, as that is the most important exciting part of getting new material.. what does it look like "inside" ?

These slices will soak or marinate over night, today we will draw the shapes on these slices, cut them out and smooth them and begin the simple process of making this into a bracelet.

This week was horrible for sales, for the very first time since the begining of April, they struck out 3 days in a row, no sales.

There is only one reason for this, I saw it coming, more than a month ago but these boys (at times) just will not listen.

Quit making the same simple bracelets! Since April 1st we have accurately sold 192 bracelets.

I told them exactly what to do.. now if they do what I requested, well I will let you be the judge when you see these final products in the next day or so.

The very first thing we must do is to make a bracelet for the person who sold us the fossil Ivory. He requested a plain fossil bracelet.

By now; you are aware and know; we must slice a piece of ivory 1/4" thick and place that piece in baby oil overnight.

Once we remove that piece the next morning, we dry it off and draw the shape of the bracelet pieces we want to use to make the entire bracelet.

Now, we need more Ivory and more pieces to build/construct this bracelet. We need sixteen pieces to make this bracelet. Angel each piece exactly 9 degrees. Each piece must be cut out, sanded and smoothed and all edges beveled slightly.

Then the next step is to draw lines so that each piece has the holes for the elastic shock cord in the exact same place or the bracelet will not lock and maintain that perfectly round shape

Once the pieces are polished to a brilliant lustre and shine then the shock elastic cord is inserted and tied and the bracelet is finished.

Insert wrist, and smile!!
