Hello, we are moving to Seward from New York (coast guard) and was hoping to find some info about the city life, as well and living areas. If you could assist that would be wonderful! We have small children, are there activities for them to keep busy? Seward was recommended to us because it was on the main route to Anchorage. But lets face it, i wont be driving 2.5 hours every other day "for something to do". As a house mom, need to find activities as well as houseing. I would appreciate some feedback!!

Well, there's Sea Life, but you won't want to go there every day. And there are community events now and then that have children's activities.

Parents of young children in Alaska learn pretty quickly that they have to create activities for them rather than depend on outside sources. You might be able to find some local playgroups.

You can look here for an idea of what the community of Seward is like:

Awww, are they trying to scare you? (yes "city life in Seward" is a great big red flag).

Fortunately, it's one of the most beautiful towns in North America, and the forest service has done a good job with recreational infrastructure down that way (marked trails, public use cabins, etc.). So yeah, the vast majority of activities in Seward beyond TV and video games require being active outdoors, often in the rain or snow. I love it down there - it's definetely on my short list of places I'd be willing to live.

I am planning to come to USA, my friend is already has job offer cause she is going to States third time, I am going first time.

Can you tell me is it difficult to find a job in Seward?
If anybody knows about vacancies in Sewards hotels/ restaurants/ shops it would be great opportunity for me to get a job!

If you have any information for me, please contact with me to email:

Seward is a nice scenic small town. There are plenty of outdoor activities, but it's a small city. However, there are numerous good restaurants and bars. I actually really like Seward and I generally don't like small towns.
