What is so amazing is that people tend to hide the truth.

The PRESIDENT of ASRC has been busted !! Six months ago!! He is at home daily in Point Hope. Out of work. No more ten k a week for him.

Tikigaq Corp. is bankrupt. The financial officer of 30 years time. is out of work.

There is nothing in the news about this. Just ask anyone in Point Hope. I doubt they will tell the truth.

A person working in ASRC under an assumed name and fake social security # was also busted. That person got her job when she just got out of jail.

She violated her parole and was sentenced to 20 years. Just ask Joe Oktollik. she.. ... was my X.

I refuse to lie..under any circumstances. OH sure i make lots of mistakes and I admit them but I do not LIE.!! I don't have to. the truth gets me into enough trouble as it is.

Back to the subject of meth and the road to North Dakota. I've been there and SD only once, and it's as remote as Alaska. The difference, I think, is Alaska has more romantic attraction than the Dakotas, and so we get more of the desperate types trying to escape and find themselves stuck. My suggestion to look further at ND/SD was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but equally as earnest. It would seem to be a place folks want to escape from and, thus, perhaps what you're looking for, as far as fewer of the less desirables being found in the plains, in the middle of nowhere. As I drove by where Dances with Wolves was filmed I marveled at the vast nothingness, attractive surely to those who yearn for isolation of a particular type. I would guess that kind of land would hold few surprises where crime and criminal activity are found, but that's simply a guess on my part, a supposition. I still hold to the premise that crime and its environs are to be found anywhere, but good luck in your search. There is bound to be more or less, depending on the here or there.

Do you have a citation somewhere for 175 Point Hopers under age 20 being currently incarcerated? Sounds improbable.

All 9 in the state sex registry for Point Hope? Doesn't sound like the whole village.

Please show me where I said the whole village ? never mind... It is totally useless to try and have an intelligent conversation with some.

TOO MANY CHILDREN die; too many children are in jail or have been in jail.

Meth - Alcohol all lead to the destruction of the individual.

Alcohol in a native is so much different than that which white people can safely consume.

Everyone is aware of that. 2 beers and some people are tripping for hours! totally out of it.

Things are crazy enough without having meth infiltrate the villages.

I agree with SityData in relation to that there are too many young people using drugs, or in jail because of drugs and alcohol, and so forth. Drug and alcohol use as well as sex crimes are quite high all over Alaska, and for some reason that I don't understand, the latter is very high in the villages. The statistics are there for all to see, since its public information.

Absolutely NOTHING for the children to do.. in the village - There is no great adventure ! Boredom reigns surpreme. There is the #1 problem.

So how do children amuse themselves ?? Tag is a very popular game; but it is played using hondas! Stolen hondas.

Lets "Party"!... I shrug everytime I hear those words... because someone dies !!

I have seen too much death in Point Hope and other villages; people I was very close to. It is always a SHOCK to hear that someone you just spoke with, as in hours ago is now dead.
Two of our students are dead. One from alcohol in Pt. Hope;18 years young, the other, in Barrow from stolen honda accident. 12 years young

2003- When ten children die in a few months one summer; in such a small place. The shock waves last for years.
